about

I wanted to write something that read like a poem, sang like a song, and felt like a hug when you heard it!

lyrics

Your Orangutan theory and your mathematical scheme has been the start of the display to the start of your mayhem

And the newspaper article that you thought up in a dream has sent the towns people towards the part where they're insane

You took one look at me and said boy you don't belong
In your effervescent shirt and your kaleidoscope dreams

You stowed me away in your father's overcoat
Just hoping the town won't catch us sleeping after all and we spoke

You looked in my eyes and you told me of a dream you had way up on a mountain with the sun setting low

How could the sky be so purple, how could your eyes be so green? As the crickets sang us songs and the grass tickled your toes

You ran barefoot through the field as i chased you all along
Reciting lines from the poem that I wrote you the other day

Went something like, my dearest my sweet heart my love for you is strong
Let me lasso the stars, let me show you how to live and we went on

We made our way out West finding the truest open ground
riding horses in fields like indigo machines

I pointed to the prairie and I said lets head into town
You said you'd rather hit the sunset and go in search of our dreams

As the clouds were tinted pink I watched your eyes become more green
I saddled up my stallion and I headed back your way

I held onto your hand like I was holding onto a dream
You looked at me and smiled and I knew we'd be ok and then we rode

The campfire kept us nimble as we danced amongst the trees
with shadows flickered flames and ghostlike haunted smiles

We put paint on our foreheads that we stole from injured leaves
Hoping to take some of the power from mother natures arms

The dust was swirling strangely as we continued our song
An ode to heart and soul and the spirits on the wind

Well, we're a long way from home and the coastal town where we belong
but my mind can see the sunset as i look into your eyes and I'm home

about

Charlie Diamond Hartford, Connecticut

Wrestled an alligator, fought a tornado, and been everywhere twice. Ran away with the circus when I was 16 and spent a few years as a rigger. Started writing songs when I was hiking the Appalachia trail. Thoroughly convinced I've been reincarnated and landed in the wrong decade. I write a lot about the mountain I grew up on. Spend a lot of time in corners talking to myself. ... more
